Volunteer - Trustee and Treasurer Opportunities at Mind in Brighton and Hove

Volunteer roles

Mind in Brighton and Hove (MiBH) supports and empowers people experiencing mental health issues across Brighton and Hove, East and West Sussex. We provide a range of support to enable people to make choices about the services they use and the treatment they receive and our work is informed by the needs and views of people with mental health issues and by the wider community.

We are seeking general Trustees and a Treasurer to complement the experience and expertise of our existing Board. As a Trustee of MiBH you will have a commitment to the Charity and ensure that it is effectively governed in line with our mission, vision and values. You will need to think strategically and creatively, communicate clearly and have the ability to exercise independent judgement.

We are recruiting to the following roles:

General Trustee: as part of the Board, you will determine the strategy and development of Mind in Brighton and Hove, safeguard and promote the values of the organisation, be effective, responsible and accountable as a Trustee and contribute to the Board functioning effectively.

Treasurer:  in addition to the above, you will have an overview of organisational financial activities; chair the Finance and Business Development Sub-Committee; make recommendations to the Board on financial matters and ensure that proper financial procedures and records are maintained in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Trustee roles require an estimated commitment equivalent to 1 day per month, which includes preparation for and attendance at Board and Sub-Committee meetings and our AGM.

This is a voluntary role. Travel expenses will be paid by Mind in Brighton and Hove.

We really welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental health issues. We are committed to diversifying the membership of our Board of Trustees and particularly keen to receive applications from people who identify as male or non-binary, and people from racialised communities.
