Mental Health Week 2024
Mental Health Awareness Week 13th – 19 May 2024
Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) takes place from Monday 13 – Sunday 19 May 2024. The theme, as set by the Mental Health Foundation, is “Movement: moving for our mental health.” This year, MHAW aims to encourage you to move your way by finding something that moves your body and mind.
As we all know, movement is important for our mental health so this Mental Health Awareness Week the focus is raising awareness on how to increase levels of activity in everyday life.
Our services are involved in a range of activities and events during MHAW week.
In Brighton and Hove our Mental Health Advice Team have partnered with Brighton and Hove City Council’s Healthy Lifestyles Team for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week. On Monday 13th May both teams will be at Jubilee Library giving out tips on how to be more active, along with information about how to look after your mental health and wellbeing. The Healthy Lifestyles team will also be sharing details on how to get involved in sport and activities in the city. Weather permitting, we will be encouraging some juggling and hula-hooping as well!
On Wednesday 17th May, staff and volunteers from our Advice Team will be joining a Healthy Lifestyle Team led Health Walk in Queens Park to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing, have conversations and answer questions from the participants.
In East Sussex our Men in Mind project will be celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week by delivering resources to barbers, tattoo artists and gym staff in Eastbourne with the aim to engage them in the project and sign up for Men in Mind training. At the end of the week the project will also cover Lewes, Newhaven, Peacehaven, Saltdean, Hailsham, and Seaford, with an aim to spread the reach of the Men in Mind project further across East Sussex.
