Baton of Hope Wednesday 5th July
Baton of Hope - Wednesday 5th July
The Baton of Hope is a UK wide suicide prevention initiative, that is currently travelling down the country, starting conversations about suicide and prompting action. For more information on the origins of the campaign and its goals please go to https://batonofhopeuk.org/vision-mission/
The Baton will be in BRIGHTON & HOVE on Wednesday 5th July and staff and volunteers from Mind will be supporting the campaign along the route at Bedford Gardens and Brighthelm and will have an information stall at the evening event at the Dome.
The Baton of Hope represents a physical symbol of hope for those affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts. In Brighton, 90 local Baton Bearers will carry the Baton 27km, covering large parts of the city including the seafront between Hove Lagoon and the Marina (including to the end of the Pier and back!), the Lanes, the North Laine, and up Lewes Road as far north as Bevendean. It’s aim to create a unifying journey for people across the city and the region with a simple message – ‘there is Hope, and there are always people who care’
Its Brighton journey will end at the Brighton Dome for a very special event, ‘An Evening of Hope’ - for anyone who has been affected by suicide, knows someone who has, or simply wants to connect with others to raise awareness of this important cause. Everyone is welcome to follow the Baton, and come to any or all of the community events across the city.
